Our Story

A Gathering of Goddesses was born from a knowing that lives in the body long before it reaches language.

The knowing that the experience of being a Black woman in America carries a weight that is rarely named. The knowing that survival has shaped our strength, but also our exhaustion. The knowing that beneath everything we have learned to endure, there is something ancient, powerful, and worthy of remembrance.

We exist because healing cannot happen in isolation. For generations, Black women have been asked to carry more than is humanly possible—families, communities, movements, and histories—often without rest, recognition, or refuge. We have been conditioned to be strong, to be self-sufficient, to keep going. But strength was never meant to mean solitude.

A Gathering of Goddesses is a space where we remember another way.

Here, healing is relational. It happens in circle, in shared breath, in being witnessed without judgment.

It happens when our nervous systems soften in safe community, when our spirits are allowed to exhale, and when our stories are held with reverence rather than urgency.

We are a community for those who are spiritual but not religious (but you can be as well), for those in transition, for those who feel the quiet stirring of becoming. Whether you are moving through identity shifts, life passages, or deep questions about who you are beneath cultural conditioning, this is a place to arrive as you are.

Our work is rooted in the understanding that we are not only healing ourselves—we are tending to seven generations before us and those yet to come. We honor that our cultural identities and internal worlds are deeply intertwined, shaped both by what we inherit and what we are taught to survive. Here, we gently unlearn what no longer serves us and reclaim what has always been ours.

A Gathering of Goddesses is not a destination. It is a remembering.

A remembering of our power that does not dominate but nurtures.
A remembering of community as medicine.
A remembering that becoming is sacred and deserves guidance, ritual, and care.

This is a space to rest.
A space to reflect.
A space to be held as you grow.

You belong here.

Since 2004, A Gathering of Goddesses has been holding space for transformation that unfolds over time, not on demand.

Our offerings move with the rhythms of the body, the moon, and the seasons, and include:

  • Healing Retreats where rest becomes a radical act

  • Educational Seminars that reconnect us to ancestral wisdom

  • Interactive Workshops that bring learning into the body

  • Monthly New Moon/Full Moon Gatherings to set intention and begin again

  • Sacred Ceremonies of Ancestral Remembrance (i.e. Sweat Lodge & Plant Medicine Ceremonies)

Each offering is a doorway. And there are always more opening.

Why We Gather

We gather because women of color need a safe space to evolve, heal, learn, cultivate, and share love and information that is vital to our success in this country and on this planet at this time.

We gather because we need each other, and we are learning to love ourselves FULLY so we can love others FULLY as well.

We gather because we can't afford not to...our legacies depend on it.

We are the DIVINE FEMININE, and we are taking our power back.
